This program is set in Niigata, the departure point for the repatriation project that occurred in 1959-1984. It follows a Korean man who boarded a repatriation ship to North Korea, and his Japanese wife who chose to stay behind. Why did the family have to split up? Why, when 90 percent of the returnees had come from South Korea, did they choose to return to North Korea? How did the project last for 25 years? This program seeks to unravel these mysteries with the help of experts from that time.
