Over 80 million people have visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Beginning as an "exhibition of rubble", it became one of the world's leading museums of tragic memory. As the world is again on the brink of nuclear war, this documentary traces the museum's 70-year history and enduring message through 22,000 preserved artifacts, rare archival footage, and the story of its first director. The film also portrays the dedication of successive directors and curators- the "guardians of the relics".
