In Salzburg, around 1,899 children were registered in the post-war years as having been conceived during encounters with American soldiers – the actual number is likely to be much higher. Most of these children grew up without their fathers. For those affected, this raised a lifelong question: How did this missing piece of the puzzle shape their identity? The film takes us back to a time of shame and longing, of hurt and reconciliation – and of the courage to face one's roots.
